Paypals Upcoming Iphone App To Get Extra Charitable
With parent company eBays continued focus on mobile, PayPal has been adding a number of compelling innovations and features to its iPhone and Android apps. Most recently, the company added Bump technology to both of its free apps, which allows you to transfer money and initiate transactions by simply by tapping smartphones together. In the next versions of the app, PayPal has a few nifty features in store for users.
PayPals President Scott Thompson tells me that an upcoming version of the companys iPhone app will include the ability to make a donation to a charitable organization directly from the app. PayPal has partnered with 20,000 various charities, including Autism Speaks and Save The Children, to allow users to make a donation at any time on the go directly from their PayPal account.
As shown by the massive fundraising efforts via texting in the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti earlier this year, consumers are looking for simple ways to make donations. Theres no doubt that this feature is good news for charitable organizations everywhere, considering the million-plus downloads PayPals iPhone app has seen.
Another interesting feature to be incorporated in an upcoming version of PayPals iPhone app is one that will save you the trip to the ATM or bank. When you receive a check, youll be able to take a picture of the front and back of a check and and PayPal will deposit the amount from the checks account into your PayPal account. You can then use the funds to make any purchases on the web via PayPal. Some banks, including Chase, currently allow you to do this, but its totally new to PayPal.
Im told the new version of the iPhone app is to be released in the next few months.
Iphone Todo Listing App Designed As A Web Based Rpg
Ever wished you could earn experience points for doing your ordinary daily stuff, well, there will soon be an app for that. Behold, EPICWIN, an iphone app to help you get through your to-do lists by turning them into quests and showering you in XP and loot will be launching soon.
Our lives are full of quests. Remember that birthday card, send that email, or drag ourselves to the gym on a regular basis.
Trouble is, sometimes we’re having too much fun doing other virtual stuff like hunting down rare items in World of Warcraft or leveling-up in Facebook games, to remember the stuff were supposed to be doing.
EpicWin is an iPhone app that puts the adventure back into your life. Its a streamlined to-do list, to note down all your everday tasks, but with a role-playing spin. Rather than just mentally ticking off your chores, completing each one improves and develops your character in an onging quest to level-up, gain riches, and develop skills.
We have only one concern, what would stop you from checking off stuff for XP and not really doing them? (First cheat code!!!)

Waze Taps More Social Parts Into Geo To Go Alongside The Trip
When it comes to mapping applications, Waze is probably the most fun one out there. It turns turn-by-turn navigation into a social experience, and a game (think: Pac-Man). It also happens to be free. And a few new features rolling out in the updated iPhone app today make it even more interesting.
The biggest new feature is the use of geolocated tweets for realtime traffic updates. One of Wazes core features is the ability to send and get realtime traffic info as you use it in your car on the road. But that obviously requires that people use Waze to send those reports. But with Twitter integration, Waze can scan tweets sent from anywhere to find information about things like bad traffic or accidents on the road.
This is done in a smart way were only bringing in tweets relevant to traffic road conditions, Wazes Di-Ann Eisnor tells us. Waze is actually using a mixture of geotagged tweets and ones from relevant sources (such as the Department of Transportation) and running them through an algorithm to make sure they only show relevant ones in the app.
Twitter users can also ensure Waze will get their reports as quickly as possible by including the hashtag #wazelive in their tweets. And youll be able to see geotagged tweets on the map itself.
Another big addition to Waze is Facebook and Foursquare integration. With this new Facebook integration, youll be able to see your Facebook friends within Waze as they move around the map. These friends have different icons from regular Waze users to distinguish them.
With the Foursquare integration, Waze users can check-in to various places from within the app. Doing so in the correct way will unlock a Road Warrior badge.
But what may be the most important new feature in the iPhone app is the new iOS 4functionality including background location. This means that you can now use Waze even when you dont have the app open (something which was previously possible on the Android version).
You can find the newest version of Waze in the App Store here (the new app was just approved so it may take a little bit of time to show up). Its a free download.
